Cibubur Mall Fire Caused by Welding Sparks from Billboard Logo Project

Ciputra Mall in Cibubur, Bekasi, caught fire this afternoon. The blaze was triggered by welding sparks from a construction project at the site.

“The cause is suspected to be welding sparks,” said Namar Naris, Head of the Fire Suppression and Rescue Division of the Bekasi City Fire Service, when contacted on Tuesday (17/2/2026).

The fire report was received by the Bekasi City fire brigade at 13:41 Western Indonesian Time. Two fire engines were dispatched and arrived at the scene at 13:52.

Namar said the fire was extinguished by 14:22. He indicated that the blaze was believed to have originated from welding sparks during the installation of a billboard logo.

There were no fatalities or injuries from the incident. Firefighters remained at the scene for the cooling-down process.

“The area affected by the fire measured 8x6 metres,” Namar said.
