Cibinong to boost cement sales

SEMARANG (JP): Publicly listed cement producer PT Semen Cibinong expected to increase the volume of its domestic sales to 25 million tons of cement this year from about 22.3 million tons last year, a senior executive said.

Semen Cibinong's marketing director Rusli Setiawan said on Thursday that the company would further strengthen its grip in Central Java and Yogyakarta to fulfill this target.

"By strengthening our market in this region we hope to keep ahead of the competition," he told a media conference.

Semen Cibinong's products -- the Kujang brand and Borobudur brand -- faces tough competition from cement producers PT Semen Tiga Roda and PT Semen Gresik.

Borobudur brand is produced by Semen Cibinong's wholly owned subsidiary PT Semen Nusantara.

The company operates four cement factories in Narogong, West Java and two factories in Cilacap, Central Java run by Semen Nusantara. (har/tnt)
