A total of 500 inmates at the Class IIA Cibinong Prison, Bogor Regency, West Java, underwent health examinations on Friday to detect various diseases.

Dr Yenny Chandrawaty, a physician involved in the activity in Cibinong, stated that the examinations were carried out in stages, beginning with registration, followed by blood pressure checks, and concluding with health screenings.

“For the inmates, we come for registration, then we check their blood pressure, and then we perform screenings,” said Yenny.

Inmates with specific medical indications subsequently underwent laboratory tests to provide doctors with the necessary basis for determining treatment and medication.

According to Yenny, scabies—a skin disease caused by mites—was one of the most common complaints found during the examinations.

“Among the various illnesses I found, most were scabies. They must continue to sun-dry their bedding,” she noted.

She mentioned that inmates also received education regarding the importance of maintaining personal and environmental hygiene, including the routine sun-drying of bedding to reduce the risk of mite proliferation.

The health check was part of a social service programme themed “GOTD Limitless – Love Without Limits,” organised by several churches and Christian foundations providing services at the Class IIA Cibinong Prison.

One of the inmates participating in the examination was the former Head of the Profession and Security Division (Kadiv Propam) of the Indonesian National Police, Ferdy Sambo.

Yenny stated that the results of Ferdy Sambo’s examination showed that his blood sugar, uric acid, and cholesterol levels were in good condition, although his blood pressure was recorded as slightly high.

“We checked all three: blood sugar, uric acid, and cholesterol are still good. However, his blood pressure is a bit high,” said Yenage.

During the event, Ferdy Sambo also shared messages regarding love, care, and hope with the inmates. He expressed that every individual retains their human value and the opportunity to change, regardless of their past or current circumstances.

In addition to the medical examinations and the provision of medication as required, the activity included education on clean and healthy living patterns for inmates during their period of rehabilitation.
