Cianjur Regional Council Backs Economic Census as Foundation for Local Economic Development

Cianjur Regency DPRD, West Java, has expressed support for the 2026 Economic Census to be conducted by the Bureau of Statistics (BPS). The census is planned to run from May to July.

Lepi Ali Firmansyah, Deputy Speaker of the Cianjur Regency DPRD, said that a few days earlier he had received a visit from BPS officials to discuss the plan for the 2026 Economic Census. The Economic Census is a routine agenda held every five years.

‘The Economic Census is an instrument of data that is conducted every five years. This year’s programme will take place from May to July,’ he said on Friday (6/3).

He urged and invited the public, business actors, and other related elements to help make the programme a success. Because the Economic Census will serve as a reference for formulating targeted economic development policies.

‘The accurate and comprehensive data from the census are crucial as the foundation for the regional government to formulate precise economic development policies. In particular, the efforts to strengthen SMEs and accelerate welfare in Cianjur,’ asserted the leader of the PKB branch in Cianjur.

Lepi emphasised that the survey in the Economic Census has no connection to taxation. Therefore the public need not worry, and the data provided must be accurate.

‘S all data that is provided will be kept confidential,’ he said.
