Cianjur – The Cianjur Regency Government in West Java has ensured that several alternative routes are in proper condition following improvements, allowing returning travellers to pass safely and comfortably whilst avoiding congestion on the main Puncak-Cianjur route.

The Head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUTR) of Cianjur, Eri Rihandiar, stated on Wednesday that the alternative routes include Hanjawar, Pacet, and Mariwati routes in the northern region and the Selaeurih-Sukaluyu route in the eastern region of Cianjur.

He noted that many of these alternative routes, which are classified as regency roads, have largely already undergone improvements, with a small portion still under repair. The target is for all routes to be fully passable from both directions by seven days before Lebaran.

“The main holiday route is on the national road or primary route from Puncak to Cianjur. To anticipate a surge in traffic, alternative regency roads in the northern and eastern regions of Cianjur have been prepared,” he said.

From Bandung towards Cianjur and onwards to various cities and regencies in Sukabumi, Bogor and beyond, travellers can use the alternative Sukaluyu route through Salaeurih, continuing to the Southern Ring Road and the Cianjur-Sukabumi main road.

However, the office is still working to complete repairs at several points on alternative routes according to schedule, at least five days before Lebaran, including repairs to the road surface in front of the Tugu Lampu Gentur.

“The local government has targeted all improvements to be completed before the peak of returning travellers in 2026, so we ensure that by 13 March the work will be finished so that alternative routes can be traversed safely and comfortably,” he said.

“For repairs using fast-drying concrete, it is estimated to require only one day before the road can be used by vehicles, so one day’s work is targeted for completion. Thus, when vehicle volume increases, the road surface will already be repaired,” he added.
