Cianjur Police Redirect Drivers to Jonggol-Sukabumi Alternative Route
Since early morning, officers have directed drivers from Cianjur bound for Bogor and beyond to take the Jonggol and Sukabumi alternative route to avoid traffic congestion on the Puncak route as vehicle volumes rise.
The Cianjur Regional Police have advised motorists heading to Bogor and further destinations to use the Jonggol and Sukabumi alternative route to avoid being stuck in queues on the Puncak route due to high vehicle volumes on Sunday.
Cianjur Regional Police Traffic Chief AKP Aang Andi Suhandi stated that vehicle volumes along the Puncak-Bogor and Puncak-Cianjur routes have increased from morning until evening, with many heading to tourist destinations in Cipanas-Cianjur.
Dozens of officers are deployed at key congestion-prone points including Puncak Pass, Hanjawar intersection, Cibodas, Cipanas Market, and Jala Raya Pacet-Cianjur to manage traffic flow safely and smoothly amid rising vehicle numbers.
They predict vehicle volumes will continue to rise until the end of the long weekend on Monday (1 June), with situational traffic management measures, including one-way systems on the Puncak route.
In response to increased traffic, they have also stationed queue-clearing teams at vulnerable points to quickly address congestion and prevent lengthy delays along the Puncak-Cianjur route.
They urged drivers to comply with traffic rules and follow officers’ instructions to avoid being trapped in queues where vehicles have come to a standstill for over ten kilometres, and to avoid stopping on the hard shoulder, which can cause further traffic jams.
Traffic monitoring data along the Puncak route shows continuous queues of two-wheel and four-wheel vehicles from the Jagorawi Toll Road exit towards Simpang Gadog.
Based on holiday weekend traffic data, daily vehicle volumes heading to Puncak reached between 23,000 and 30,000 units.
