Cianjur Police: Public can call 110 for clean water service

Cianjur, West Java (ANTARA) - The Cianjur Resort Police have opened a clean water distribution service using a tanker truck to reach a number of drought-affected areas, with residents in need able to contact the 110 call centre.

Cianjur Police Chief AKBP Alexander Yurikho Hadi said on Wednesday that the clean water assistance using the Cianjur Police’s tanker truck was being provided due to the high number of requests from communities affected by drought in Cianjur.

As a result, around 10,000 litres of clean water are distributed daily to several affected areas, including Kertajaya Village in Ciranjang District and Bobojong Village in Mande District, with the number of beneficiaries reaching 700 households.

He explained that the tanker-based clean water service during the dry season is a form of service to the community. The National Police are present to ease the burden on residents who are struggling to obtain clean water.

The clean water service will continue for as long as it is needed, particularly in 17 sub-districts reported to be experiencing drought, where many residents have been forced to use river water for their daily needs.

“We will continue to provide various services to the community as proof that the National Police are present in all kinds of activities, not solely those related to law enforcement. The clean water service is carried out daily according to requests received through the 110 call centre,” he said.

In fact, for cooking needs, residents are often forced to walk as far as one kilometre to obtain clean water from springs located on the outskirts of their villages.

“We hope that clean water assistance can reach our village every day, so that residents no longer struggle to obtain clean water during the dry season,” said Bobojong Village resident Endi Saripudin (38).
