Cianjur Holiday Traffic Surge Reaches 20 Per Cent on Day Four Before Lebaran
As the fourth day before Lebaran approaches, the volume of homebound travellers on Cianjur’s main routes in West Java continues to increase, particularly during morning and evening peak hours. Vehicle traffic is dominated by travellers headed to various districts and cities across West Java and Central Java.
Based on field observations, the increase in vehicle volume is quite significant. Approximately 500 four-wheeled vehicles and 1,000 two-wheeled vehicles are recorded passing through Cianjur’s main route towards Bandung Barat and surrounding areas every minute.
Despite the surge in vehicle volume, traffic conditions remain relatively smooth. No significant queues have been observed at several accident-prone locations, ranging from the Puncak-Cianjur area to Haurwangi, which borders Bandung Barat.
The majority of vehicles passing through originated from the Jabodetabek and Banten regions.
An increase in homebound activity is also visible at several rest stops. Parking areas at mosques and security posts scattered from Puncak Pass to Haurwangi are crowded with vehicles stopped for rest breaks.
To anticipate congestion, hundreds of officers have been deployed at various strategic points, particularly during morning and evening hours. Traffic management is being conducted on several roads including Puncak-Cipanas Main Road, Gentur Lamp Monument-By Pass, Bandung-Cianjur Main Road, and Cianjur-Sukabumi Main Road.
The head of the Cianjur Police Traffic Unit, AKP Aang Andi Suhdi, stated that vehicle volume on the fourth day before Lebaran has increased approximately 20 per cent compared to normal days.
“Although there is an increase, traffic flow remains monitored as normal and smooth. We continue to implement various anticipatory measures, including traffic management at accident-prone points to prevent congestion,” he said.
He added that officers at each security post will conduct intensive traffic management when vehicle surges occur, particularly during peak morning and evening hours.
Police also urged drivers to remain careful and vigilant, especially when passing through accident-prone routes such as Puncak-Cianjur, Bandung-Cianjur Main Road, and Cianjur-Sukabumi Main Road.
