Cianjur Fest 2026: Cultural Education Records Historical Legacy for the Young Generation
Thousands of residents of Cianjur Regency, West Java, packed several main roads to watch the Cianjur Fest 2026 cultural carnival on Saturday (22/8).
The event served as the culmination of the 349th Cianjur Anniversary (HJC) celebrations as well as the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
The procession began on Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan, then passed through Jalan Moch Yamin, Jalan KH Hasyim Ashari, Jalan Mangunsarkoro, and Jalan A Sucipta.
The convoy ended at the grandstand on Jalan Siliwangi, directly in front of the Cianjur Regency Government complex.
The leading group was headed by Cianjur Regent Mohammad Wahyu Ferdian and his wife, along with Deputy Regent Ramzi and his wife, riding in a ceremonial carriage.
The procession was followed by members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), regional apparatus, sub-district representatives, schools, and various community groups.
Wahyu said that the Cianjur Fest 2026 series ran smoothly and drew high enthusiasm from residents.
According to him, the festivities were not merely entertainment but also had a direct impact on the local economy, particularly for small and medium enterprises (UMKM) along the route.
“We hope this can bring benefits to the community, especially economic turnover,” said Wahyu.
In addition to stimulating the economy, the carnival served as a platform to introduce the region’s potential as well as Cianjur’s three cultural pillars: maos (Quranic recitation), mamaos (traditional song), and maenpo (pencak silat).
The event was designed as a medium for educating younger generations about the history and ancestral traditions of the region.
“We want the community not only to be entertained, but also for our children to be educated about the history and traditions of Cianjur Regency,” he added.
As the closing event of the series, Cianjur Fest 2026 also featured the Gema Syiar programme at the Great Mosque of Cianjur on Saturday evening (22/8). The event included a sermon by Ustaz Dennis Lim and a religious music performance by singer Opick.
