Church figure to visit Indonesia

JAKARTA: Seventh-day Adventist Church (GMAHK) World President Jan Paulsen is scheduled to arrive here on Thursday for a four- day visit.

During his stay in Indonesia, Paulsen will make a courtesy call on President Megawati Soekarnoputri and Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Jusuf Kalla on Friday and meet with Indonesian Adventist Church leaders.

"The visit of Dr. Paulsen will promote the idea that Indonesia is a peaceful country and secure place to visit. Apart from that, there is a high tolerance between followers of different religions in Indonesia," Houtman E. Sinaga, the minister of GMAHK Western Indonesia, said.

The church was established in the United States in 1863, with its headquarters in Washington D.C. -- JP
