Chronology of Woman Stabbing Colleague Seven Times in Menteng
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Police have revealed the chronology of a woman, identified by the initials USP (31), who stabbed her male colleague, MHA (30), seven times at a residence on Jalan Pati, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (16/6) afternoon. “The initial report was a violent theft or robbery according to witness testimony,” said Central Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKBP Roby Heri Saputra during a press conference on Friday.
Roby stated that the police received the report from the Menteng Police Sector on Tuesday (16/6) at 4 p.m. Western Indonesia Time. The report indicated one injured male victim, MHA, and one female witness, USP, at the crime scene. The victim, a company director, and the witness, a commissioner at the same IT company, were colleagues staying at the witness’s house.
The witness initially explained that two people suddenly robbed the house. She claimed they were involved in a scuffle with the victim on the upper floor. The witness, who was on the ground floor, heard the commotion and went upstairs carrying a frying pan and a stun gun for protection. “It turned out the two people had detained MHA. To secure his release, the witness handed over her valuables, including a 200-gram gold bar and other gold jewellery weighing approximately 300 grams. After the items were handed over, the two perpetrators injured MHA,” he said. Police received this account as the initial statement from the witness at the scene.
Following a scientific investigation, police found inconsistencies in the witness’s statement, the physical evidence, and other examined testimonies. “From the initial statement of witness USP, we suspected it was false. We later discovered that no two people had entered the house; instead, the perpetrator of the assault on MHA was USP herself,” he stated.
Police also found that the trigger for investigators’ suspicion was the significant delay between the incident and the report. Additionally, the perpetrator did not immediately contact close relatives. “The initial suspicion was the time gap between the incident and the report. The time from the incident to when the witness reported it was quite long, more than one hour,” he said. Consequently, police concluded that the alleged robbery was fabricated and served as an alibi to obscure the actual events.
Eventually, the perpetrator confessed to her actions and recounted the true chronology. The perpetrator and the victim were actually alone together at the perpetrator’s house. The victim was staying overnight after completing official duties out of town with the perpetrator and was scheduled to fly to Bali the following day. At that time, the perpetrator asked the victim to hold a cloth connected to an electrical cable, causing him to be electrocuted and fall for approximately six to eight seconds. Seeing that the victim was still unconscious, the perpetrator panicked and assaulted him using a nitrogen tube, a frying pan, and a knife. The victim sustained seven stab wounds to the head, back, and neck as a result of the incident.
The evidence secured includes a knife, a blood-stained cloth, pieces of the victim’s clothing, a power supply, a hammer, a bloodied nitrogen tube, a nitrogen tube hose unit, a stun gun or electric shock device, and an iron frying pan. For this incident, USP is charged under Article 459 in conjunction with Article 17 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code concerning attempted premeditated murder, and Article 466 of the Criminal Code concerning assault. The penalty for premeditated murder is 20 years or life imprisonment, while the penalty for attempted murder is two-thirds of 20 years.
