Police have detailed the chronology of an Uzbekistan citizen, Sirqjiddin (39), being scammed by a bus ticket scalper while attempting to travel to Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. The incident occurred after the victim arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kalideres Police, AKP Rachmad Wibowo, stated that the incident took place in the early hours of Friday, 19 June 2026. The victim was directed by an illegal taxi driver to the Kalideres area. “He was directed by an illegal taxi driver to a shadow terminal in the Jalan Kayu Besar area, Kalideres,” Rachmad said in a written statement on Monday, 22 June. He stated that the victim purchased a bus ticket at the location for Rp 1.2 million. Additionally, the victim paid an extra transport fee of Rp 200,000. “With the promise of being picked up from the hotel and taken to the departure point,” he said. The victim then waited at the hotel for a considerable time. However, the illegal taxi driver who made the promise never arrived. “Being far from his home country and not understanding the situation he was facing, Sirqjiddin felt confused and worried,” he said. The victim then went to the police station to seek help. Officers subsequently conducted checks and clarifications at the location where the ticket was purchased. “With a humanistic and communicative approach, officers brought Sirqjiddin together with the bus ticket vendor. As a result, the money that had been paid was fully returned,” he said. The police also assisted the victim in getting to Kalideres Terminal. The victim was eventually able to purchase an official ticket to Lombok.
