Chronology of TNI Maung Tactical Vehicle Accident on Jakarta Inner-City Toll Road
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Highway Patrol Unit (Sat PJR) of the Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya has explained the chronology of a single-vehicle accident involving a TNI Maung tactical vehicle on the Jakarta Inner-City Toll Road, specifically at Offramp KM 9.800 on Route A heading west, on Thursday morning.
Head of the Traffic Patrol Unit at Polda Metro Jaya’s Traffic Directorate, AKBP Rieki Indra Bratamanggala, said the incident occurred at around 08.30 WIB and was strongly suspected to have been triggered by the driver falling asleep at the wheel (micro sleep).
“The accident began when the TNI service vehicle with registration number 334-02 was travelling from east to west,” Rieki said in his statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
Rieki added that the tactical vehicle was driven by a TNI member with the initials TBS and was carrying two passengers, one male and one female.
“Upon arriving at the scene of the incident, specifically at offramp KM 9.800 (A), the vehicle suddenly lost control. Allegedly because the driver experienced a micro sleep, the vehicle swerved and struck a separator (road divider) as well as a traffic sign pole at the location,” he said.
The severe impact caused significant material damage to the front of the tactical vehicle. In addition to the damage to the vehicle, the two passengers inside were reported injured.
“The male passenger suffered injuries to both legs, while the female passenger sustained injuries to her face. However, the driver was reported to be safe,” said Rieki.
He said both injured victims were immediately evacuated and rushed to the Ridwan Meuraksa Army Hospital in East Jakarta.
In addition to evacuating the victims, officers also immediately managed traffic flow around the toll offramp to prevent vehicle congestion, as well as securing the evidence.
“At present, the tactical vehicle has been evacuated to a safe location. This single-vehicle accident case has now been handed over to and is being handled by the Accident Unit of the Enforcement Sub-Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya’s Traffic Directorate for further investigation,” he said.
