Chronology of the discovery of 995 firearms at a private school in South Jakarta

The legal team of a private school in the Pondok Pinang area, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, has revealed the chronology of the discovery of 995 firearms, pornographic VCDs and drugs at the school.

“We initially wanted to open a room for the needs of the school children. However, suddenly when we opened the room for the school’s purposes, we found equipment referred to as weapons. Airsoft guns that could kill because the barrels are plain with no rifling,” said Untung Sangaji, Expert Staff to the Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, at the South Jakarta Metro Police on Thursday.

Untung said that initially the school only wanted to open a room for teachers’ operational needs. However, when the door was opened together with the police, they again found items suspected to be related to firearms.

In the room formerly used by the foundation head with the initials IWD at the private school, 995 firearms, ammunition, weapon accessories, bullet-making equipment and items suspected to be methamphetamine and marijuana were found.

“Bullet-making equipment, how could it be in this school environment? Why is it that in this school which we greatly respect — kindergarten, primary, junior high, senior high — there is someone secretly carrying out activities there?” he said.

The South Jakarta Metro Police confirmed the discovery of a number of firearms and airsoft guns in one of the foundation rooms of the private school in the Pondok Pinang area, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta.

Police received a report from the public regarding the discovery on 15 July 2026. Investigators had previously prepared a Model A Police Report as the basis for initial handling after learning of the discovery.

In addition, the preparation of the Model A Police Report was also carried out as the basis for initial handling before the investigation process proceeds further.
