Chronology of Semarang Zoo White Tiger's Death According to Central Java BKSDA

The Central Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) has stated it found no element of negligence in the death of a white Bengal tiger belonging to Semarang Zoo. According to the Central Java BKSDA, the female tiger named Anggun died on 27 March 2026.

Head of Central Java BKSDA Dyah Sulistyari explained that Anggun, part of Semarang Zoo’s collection, had been donated to Rahmat Park and Zoo (R Zoo) in Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra. The donation was carried out based on an agreement between the two parties.

Under the agreement, in addition to Anggun, Semarang Zoo also donated a male Bengal tiger named Ganza. Both tigers were transported from Semarang Zoo on 17 March 2026. According to Dyah, the shipment process not only fulfilled administrative document requirements but the tigers were also accompanied by a veterinarian and animal keeper.

“We need to convey that before the Bengal tigers from Semarang Zoo were sent to R Zoo, the completeness of the animal transport administrative documents was fulfilled by Semarang Zoo,” Dyah said in a statement.

Furthermore, the health team also examined the condition of the animal transport cage and the tigers’ health. The examination was conducted by a team of veterinarians from Semarang Zoo and a keeper from R Zoo, accompanied by the Central Java BKSDA Team.

From the examination results, it was stated that the transport cage was in a fit condition and the Bengal tigers were healthy, based on a Health Certificate number: 6-20.5.01/PT.TSS/I||/2026 issued by a Semarang Zoo veterinarian.

However, upon arrival at R Zoo, the condition of the female white tiger named Anggun deteriorated. “In its development, the Bengal tiger Anggun experienced a decline in condition until it could not be saved on 27 March 2026,” Dyah stated.
