Chronology of Raffi Ahmad's Name Being Dragged into the Blueray Cargo Case

The name of the President’s Special Envoy, Raffi Ahmad, has surfaced in the trial of an alleged bribery and corruption case related to the importation of goods at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC), with the defendants being the leadership of the Blueray Cargo Group. The emergence of Raffi Ahmad’s name has triggered reactions and demands for clarification. The name was first mentioned in a trial held on Friday (5/6) with defendant John Field et al. During the session, the Public Prosecutor from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) examined testimony from witness Sri Pangestuti, a Customs Clearance Services Entrepreneur. The prosecutor’s questions focused on a request to ship luxury goods, namely laptops and iPhone 17s, from the United States to Indonesia. The connection of Raffi Ahmad’s name to the goods shipment flow then became a new trial fact that attracted public attention. Responding to the emergence of Raffi Ahmad’s name, the KPK stated that all facts arising during the trial would be studied further. The KPK is open to deepening the investigation if indications relevant to the bribery case are found. Raffi Ahmad has appointed senior lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea to handle the matter. Through social media posts, Hotman Paris asserted that his client feels slandered by the accusations of involvement in the Blueray Cargo scandal. Raffi Ahmad’s team is scheduled to hold a press conference on Thursday (11/6) to provide a comprehensive explanation and deny involvement in the bribery case. This Blueray Cargo case involves three main defendants from the company’s leadership, who are charged with providing bribes amounting to Rp61.3 billion in foreign currency to individuals at Customs. The three main defendants are John Field, Dedy Kurniawan Sukolo, and Andri, who are executives of the Blueray Cargo Group.
