Chronology of Police and Motorcycle Thieves' Shootout in Citra Raya Tangerang

A video has circulated showing a shootout between suspected motorcycle thieves and a security officer in the Citra Raya Roundabout area, Panongan, Tangerang Regency. The footage shows a man in a white shirt carrying a firearm and aiming his weapon during the pursuit of the fleeing suspects.

Tangerang Resort Police stated the incident occurred on Friday (24/7). The man in the white shirt is a police officer. Tangerang Resort Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Andi Muhammad Indra Waspada Amirullah, explained that the incident began when police received information about a motorcycle that was suspected to have just been stolen. Shortly after, the chief security officer spotted a motorcycle with identical characteristics to the reported missing vehicle. Officers then attempted to follow and stop the perpetrators who were making off with the vehicle.

“However, when they were about to be stopped, the suspected perpetrators resisted by drawing and firing what is believed to be a firearm,” Indra Waspada said on Monday (27/7/2026). The chief security officer, who is a member of the Mobile Brigade (Brimob), managed to avoid the shot and continued to pursue the suspects. The chief security officer then attempted to fire warning shots at the gang of thieves. Despite the warnings, the motorcycle thieves continued speeding away. Both thieves subsequently managed to escape.

Tangerang Resort Police are currently conducting a series of investigations, including processing the crime scene, examining several witnesses, and reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from around the location to identify the perpetrators. “We will provide further updates on the investigation’s progress,” he said. Police have urged members of the public who have information or recordings related to the incident to immediately report them to the authorities.
