Chronology of goods vehicle that overturned in front of Parliament building
Jakarta – The Traffic Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police unveiled the chronology of a single-vehicle accident involving a goods truck that overturned on Jalan Gatot Subroto on Thursday morning.
“The incident occurred at approximately 05:30 local time on Jalan Gatot Subroto in the westbound direction, specifically near the Parliament building (DPR) gate in central Jakarta,” said AKBP Ojo Ruslani, Head of the Law Enforcement Subdivision of the Traffic Directorate of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, in his statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
Ojo explained that the driver of the goods vehicle with registration number B 9214 BCG, a 31-year-old man with initials AA, was travelling from east to west on Jalan Gatot Subroto.
“Upon arriving at the scene directly in front of the Parliament/People’s Consultative Assembly (DPR/MPR) gate, it is suspected the driver was inattentive and lacked concentration when attempting to avoid another vehicle by suddenly turning the steering wheel to the right, striking the busway separator,” he said.
As a result, the goods truck driven by AA overturned, though there were no reported injuries from the incident. Traffic flow in the surrounding area experienced congestion.
“Single-vehicle accident involving a box truck overturned on Jalan Gatot Subroto in front of the Parliament building, Thursday (12/3/2026), please be careful,” the social media account posted.
Meanwhile, the X account @TMCPoldaMetro posted that the central Jakarta Traffic Unit had implemented traffic safety and order operations at the location of the truck that experienced loss of control in front of Parliament. “At present, the truck has been successfully evacuated and drivers are advised to exercise caution given the slippery road conditions as a result of diesel fuel spillage,” the account stated.
