Chronology of Discovery: Children Raped by Biological Father
A 28-year-old mother identified as D from Semarang, Central Java, is seeking justice for her two young daughters, who are alleged to have been victims of rape by their biological father. D reported the case to the Central Java Regional Police (Polda Jateng) in October 2024, but she feels the handling of the case has not progressed.
D explained that in 2024, she took her daughter, who was 9 years old at the time, to a community health centre to have a complaint about her genital area examined. “The doctor said, ‘Ma’am, how is it that a minor’s hymen has already been torn quite significantly?’” D said in an interview on Saturday (22/8/2026).
At the time, D admitted she did not understand the meaning of the question. The doctor then explained that there was a possibility that penetration by a male penis into her daughter’s vital organ had already occurred. D was very shocked upon hearing this explanation. The doctor then advised D to have a post-mortem examination performed on her daughter.
During the examination, the doctor spoke with D’s daughter without D being present. According to D, her daughter confessed to the doctor that she had experienced sexual violence perpetrated by her own father. The doctor then relayed the daughter’s statement to D.
At that moment, D was unable to contain her sadness and cried in front of the doctor. She then confronted her husband about their daughter’s statement. However, her husband denied it. He then chose to return to his parents’ home. D and her husband are now divorced.
On the advice of a neighbour, D decided to consult and seek assistance from LBH Mawar Saron. After hearing D’s story, LBH Mawar Saron contacted the Integrated Service Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPTD PPA). After explaining the incident to UPTD PPA, D finally filed a report with the Central Java Regional Police in October 2024.
During this series of processes, D also had a post-mortem examination performed on her youngest daughter, who was 3 years old at the time. The results also found tearing. “The doctor said it was the size of the head of a penis but had not yet entered,” D said.
She revealed that in 2025, a team from the Central Java Police’s Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (Inafis) visited her residence to conduct a crime scene investigation. They also interviewed both of D’s daughters. However, D feels that to this day the handling of her case has not made significant progress.
“My hope for the police is that I am seeking justice for my children. I am a mother, a single mother, seeking justice so that the perpetrator is arrested,” D said.
According to D, both of her daughters, especially the eldest, are still traumatised. “The teacher at her school asked me why my child often daydreams. Perhaps it is because she is thinking about that,” she said.
When confirmed, the Director of the Directorate for the Protection of Women and Children and the Eradication of Human Trafficking (Dirres PPA-PPO) of the Central Java Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Nunuk Setiyowati, stated that her office is still actively handling the alleged rape case reported by D. The case is registered under number LP/B/232/X/2025/SPKT Jateng dated 29 October 2025.
“It is currently at the investigation stage and the forensic laboratory examination is still in progress,” Nunuk said in a short message to Republika.
However, Nunuk was not yet willing to provide a detailed explanation about the case. “Details will be provided on Monday by the Head of the Child Sub-Directorate. Please come to the office,” she said.
