Chronology of Debt Collectors' Stabbing of Lawyer in Tangerang, Including Raid on Victim's Home

A lawyer named Bastian Sori (40) was stabbed by a group of debt collectors, also known as ‘mata elang’ (matel), in the Kelapa Dua area, Tangerang Regency. The incident occurred during a vehicle repossession. The Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, said the incident took place on Monday (23rd February) at 4.40 pm. The victim and his wife, who were about to leave to pick up their child, found three perpetrators in front of their house. “The victim and the three unknown individuals had an argument about the outstanding instalments on the victim’s white Toyota Fortuner car, which had been unpaid for two months. The victim and the witness ignored the three unknown individuals who claimed to be debt collectors,” Budi told reporters on Tuesday (24th February 2026). Upon arriving at the housing complex gate, the victim reprimanded the security guard because the perpetrators had come to his house. The perpetrators, who were about to leave the complex, met the victim at the gate. It was then that the argument escalated, leading to the stabbing. “Because at that time, the car allegedly belonging to the perpetrators was blocking the road, the victim approached the alleged perpetrators to ask for their identification. When the witness came out of the car, he saw that the victim was covered in blood, with the wound coming from his stomach, which had been stabbed by one of the men wearing a blue checkered shirt,” Budi explained. Immediately afterwards, the perpetrators left the scene. Budi said the victim was stabbed three times by the perpetrators. “The witness saw two stab wounds on the victim’s stomach and one stab wound on his back. At that time, he was taken to the Mega Clinic, but because the victim’s injuries were quite serious, he was rushed to Siloam International Hospital Lippo Karawaci Kelapa Dua,” he said. Budi Hermanto said the case is being handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Tangerang Police.
