Chronology of Deadly Drug Raid in Central Kalimantan: One Officer Killed, Two Missing

A member of the Katingan Police narcotics unit in Central Kalimantan has died, and two other personnel are reported missing following an operation to raid a suspected drug dealer in Tumbang Kalemei village, Katingan Regency, early on Thursday. Katingan Police Chief AKBP Dodik Hartono confirmed the incident, stating that the search for the two missing officers remains the primary focus. The operation began with a raid on a suspected narcotics offender, during which officers managed to detain one suspect. However, the situation escalated when family members of the suspect allegedly attacked the officers with machetes during the arrest process. Officers responded with firm and measured action, resulting in the death of one family member. The resistance triggered the arrival of other residents at the scene, causing the situation to spiral out of control. Personnel on duty attempted to secure themselves while bringing the situation under control. During the incident, Aipda Yudhi Perdana Putra, a member of the Katingan Police narcotics unit, was killed in the line of duty. Two other personnel remain unaccounted for, with search efforts focused on the area surrounding the incident and along the river. The security situation in Tumbang Kalemei village has since gradually stabilised. Police are maintaining a security presence while continuing to investigate the sequence of events. The suspect’s family has fled the location. A total of 50 personnel from the Central Kalimantan Regional Police have been deployed to assist and support the handling of the incident.
