Chronology of Common-law Husband Killing Wife in Depok, Beginning with Quarrel and Eviction
DEPOK — A woman was found dead, with only skeletal remains, on Jalan Damai Raya, Meruyung, Limo, Depok, on Saturday, 7 March 2026.
The murder of a woman with the initials DH, aged 55, by her common-law husband, ARH, aged 44, began with a quarrel in mid-October 2025. At that time, they had been in a common-law marriage for nearly a year. During the quarrel, DH evicted ARH from the house.
“The suspect immediately strangled the victim with his left hand until the victim became weak and defenceless,” said Kasubdit 3 Resmob Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP Resa Fiardi Marasabessy, to Kompas.com on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
When the victim lost consciousness, ARH took a raffia rope and wrapped it around the victim’s neck.
Resa stated that ARH monitored the victim’s condition for approximately one hour to ensure the victim was dead.
When he no longer saw any movement in the victim, he dragged DH’s lifeless body into one of the bedrooms and covered it with a carpet.
“The suspect waited for approximately one hour while observing the victim’s condition,” said Resa.
ARH then left the house, taking the victim’s mobile phone and motorcycle.
L, who came with her boyfriend, R, divided the task of cleaning the house, which she believed her mother had left for Sukabumi, West Java.
L was responsible for cleaning the kitchen, whilst R cleaned the bedroom and central area.
Upon entering the bedroom, R discovered a pile of clothing. R then began cleaning by placing the clothing into plastic bags.
Beneath the pile that had been cleared, R saw a carpet covering an object that was subsequently discovered to be the body of her mother.
