Chronology of Brawl Involving Four Brimob Officers and Three TNI Soldiers Ending in Stabbing in Labuan Bajo

The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police have detailed the chronology of an incident in which four Mobile Brigade Corps (Brimob) officers were allegedly stabbed by three Indonesian Army (TNI AD) soldiers in Waemata Hamlet, Gorontalo Village, Komodo District, West Manggarai Regency, NTT, in the early hours of Thursday (11/6/2026). The case remains under investigation. “The case is still under investigation,” stated NTT Regional Police Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Henry Novika Chandra, on Thursday. Henry explained that the case began when several Brimob personnel attended a thanksgiving mass for the inauguration of Brimob officer Bripda JGR in Waemata Hamlet on Wednesday evening (10/6/2026). At that time, the event proceeded safely, orderly, and in a familial atmosphere. However, after midnight, a misunderstanding occurred between the Brimob officers and several TNI AD soldiers at the location. This subsequently triggered a brawl that culminated in the stabbings. As a result, Bripda RS, Bripda FA, Bripda BBK and another Brimob officer became victims of assault. Furthermore, Bripda RS, Bripda FA, and Bripda BBK sustained stab wounds to their backs. According to Henry, personnel at the scene immediately intervened and de-escalated the situation to prevent it from developing further. Subsequently, the West Manggarai Police Chief ordered all personnel to return to their company headquarters in an orderly manner to maintain security stability in the area. “So our primary focus at the moment is to ensure that all injured personnel receive proper medical treatment at Siloam Labuan Bajo Hospital,” Henry said. Henry stressed that the incident would not disrupt the strong relationship and synergy that has been firmly built between the TNI and Polri in NTT. He added that a joint team from the Professional and Internal Security Division (Propam) and the Army Military Police (POM AD) is conducting an objective investigation to obtain a complete picture of the events. “This step is taken so that the entire process proceeds transparently, professionally, and based on the real facts,” Henry said. He also provided an update on the condition of the four Brimob officers who were stabbed. “Only three are being treated, the other one has already been discharged. They were stabbed in the back, that’s all,” Henry revealed. He explained that in response to the incident, NTT Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Darmoko, together with Udayana Regional Military Commander Major General Piek Budyakto and Wira Sakti Military Resort Commander Brigadier General Hendro Cahyono, immediately held intensive coordination to ensure the situation remains safe and conducive and does not escalate into a wider issue. As a sign of serious commitment to handling the stabbing case, the NTT Regional Police and the 161/Wira Sakti Military Resort Command in Kupang have agreed to prioritise a professional, objective, and prudent approach by deploying a joint team from the NTT Police Propam Division and the Army Military Police to conduct examinations and gather facts in the field.
