Chronology of Aiptu Asep Suhara Becoming a Victim of a Hit-and-Run During Night Patrol in Bandung

A member of the Bandung City Police Samapta Unit, Aiptu Asep Suhara, died after becoming the victim of a hit-and-run. The incident occurred while he was carrying out a night patrol on Jalan Merdeka, Bandung, directly in front of the Hotel El Royale, Babakan Ciamis Village, Sumur Bandung District, Bandung City, in the early hours of Sunday (9/8/2026). The West Java Regional Police Public Relations division stated that the incident took place as Aiptu Asep Suhara was performing patrol duties to maintain public security and order. According to police observations, the vehicle that struck the victim contained four passengers, consisting of two men and two women. After the collision, the vehicle was reportedly seen parked in front of Bank INA on Jalan Gatot Subroto, Bandung City. Aiptu Asep Suhara was riding a Honda Vario motorcycle while carrying out his night patrol duties. He was travelling along Jalan Merdeka, Bandung, from north to south. At approximately 4:00 AM Western Indonesia Time, directly in front of Hotel El Royale, a minibus travelling in the same direction collided with the rear of the victim’s motorcycle. The severe impact caused the victim to fall, and he was rushed to Bhayangkara Sartika Asih Hospital of the West Java Regional Police. Unfortunately, the rescue efforts were unable to save his life. The driver of the four-wheeled vehicle allegedly fled the scene without rendering assistance to the victim. The police are currently conducting an investigation by examining CCTV footage and witness statements to identify the vehicle and the perpetrators, as well as to determine the complete chronology of the event. The case is being handled by the Traffic Law Enforcement Unit of the Bandung City Police and remains under investigation.
