Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the Cipularang PJR Detachment, Kompol Joko Prihantono, revealed the chronology of the multi-vehicle traffic accident on Cipularang Toll at KM 93 B and disclosed the cause, namely a braking problem on the container truck. ‘The container truck with registration B-9367-UEL is suspected to have brake problems,’ Joko said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday. According to him, the crash that occurred on Thursday night at 20:15 WIB was due to a braking problem on the container vehicle. Joko said that based on preliminary findings, the container vehicle was travelling from Bandung towards Jakarta in the left lane. Upon arrival at the scene, the driver found the road congested due to a dump truck that had malfunctioned. Joko added that the pile-up involved 10 vehicles and claimed two lives. Four others sustained minor and serious injuries and were taken to the nearest hospital. ‘There were two deaths, namely the container truck driver and the crew member of the open-back truck,’ Joko said.
