Chronology of a 6-Year-Old Boy in Central Jakarta Bullied at an Electric Pole, Electrocuted, and Left Unconscious
A six-year-old boy became a victim of bullying, suffering convulsions after being electrocuted at Taman Kramat, Kramat Urban Village, Senen District, Central Jakarta. Police have revealed the chronology of the incident.
Head of the PPA-PPO Unit at the Central Jakarta Police, Kompol Rita Oktavia, stated that the incident occurred on Sunday, 7 June. Rita said the victim and the alleged perpetrators were playing together in the park at the time. She noted that the victim and the suspects were playmates and neighbours.
“There were already many children there. The alleged perpetrators live nearby, not far, perhaps within the same community unit as the victim’s family. So they are playmates,” Rita told reporters on Friday, 12 June 2026.
The two alleged perpetrators then lifted the victim’s body. They swung him and carried him towards an electric pole in the park.
“Eventually, perhaps they already had the intention, they held his hands and feet, then swung him, and spread his legs apart to insert him between the pole,” she explained.
Rita said the perpetrators then pressed the victim’s feet against the electric pole. At that moment, the victim was apparently electrocuted and subsequently collapsed unconscious.
“It seems the tips of his feet were placed on the pole. That is why we want to find out if they already knew that the pole was electrified. The victim then lost consciousness,” she explained.
Afterwards, the alleged perpetrators appeared to panic because the victim had been electrocuted. The alleged perpetrators then took the victim to his home.
“They panicked, and one of the alleged perpetrators pulled the child away from the pole, causing him to fall. Because he was unconscious, the alleged perpetrator carried the victim back to his house,” she clarified.
The police are continuing a series of investigations into the bullying case. The victim’s condition is now gradually improving.
“We also want to find out whether this pole had an electric current or not. It is suspected that the child was electrocuted. We are currently investigating this, and also whether these children knew that the pole was electrified. That is what we want to uncover as well,” she said.
