A grandmother named Hartati, 61, reported to the Cakung Police that she was bound with duct tape and robbed while preparing to perform prayers. The perpetrator was her own neighbour, identified as Marhum. Cakung Police Chief Kompol Andre Try Putra stated on Monday (3/8/2026) that the suspect, a neighbour of the victim, had been apprehended. The robbery occurred on Sunday (2/8) in broad daylight. Around 12.00 WIB, Hartati was getting ready to perform the Dzuhur prayer. The victim heard someone entering the house and called out, assuming it was her child. However, it was her neighbour Marhum who had entered. Marhum then threatened the victim with a machete to prevent her from screaming. The perpetrator then taped the victim’s mouth, hands, and feet. After stripping the victim of her jewellery, the perpetrator fled. Once the perpetrator had escaped, the grandmother managed to free herself from the duct tape bindings and subsequently reported the incident to the local neighbourhood head and the Cakung Police. The Cakung Police Criminal Investigation Unit, led by Duty Controller First Inspector Sukoco, arrived at the scene to process the crime scene. The suspect, who lived not far from the victim, was quickly arrested. The victim lost Rp 600,000 in cash, a pair of earrings weighing 1 gram, and a Samsung A7 mobile phone.
