Chronology and Facts of the Makassar Primary School Student Murder Case
Makassar City Police Commissioner Arya Perdana explained the chronology of the murder of a 12-year-old primary school student in Makassar, South Sulawesi. The victim’s body was found undressed in an abandoned house.
Arya stated that the suspect, IK, 19, dragged the victim to an abandoned house on Sultan Abdullah 1 Street, Tallo District, Makassar, on Tuesday (26/5). The victim’s mouth was covered with cloth, and the suspect assaulted the child until unconscious, then raped him.
“There was a premeditated murder preceded by the rape of a 12-year-old child,” Arya told reporters on Wednesday (27/5).
“His head was struck, rendering him unconscious, and while still alive, he was raped,” he added.
The victim’s body was found undressed in the abandoned house with a broken TV placed on his head. According to family reports, the child did not return home on Tuesday (26/5). The family searched for him until the following morning when residents discovered the body in an abandoned house.
The suspect was arrested in a house near the crime scene several hours after the body was found while police were processing the scene. The suspect is a young man living with his sibling in the area.
He faces charges under the article on premeditated murder, Article 459 and subsidiary Article 458, with a maximum penalty of death or 20 years in prison.
