Chromebook Trial: Nadiem Reports to Judge Need for Fifth Surgery
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim reported to the panel of judges that he needs a fifth surgery to treat his illness. Nadiem conveyed this report when asked about his health condition by the Chief Judge Purwanto S Abdullah after opening the trial. “Today I am ready to face the trial. However, about six days ago, I underwent the fourth surgical procedure and there was significant regression, meaning I have to start over from the beginning,” said Nadiem, during the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Monday (30/3/2026). “So, there is still one more surgical procedure that must be done,” he continued. Meanwhile, his fourth surgery was performed around 17 March 2026. In the trial, Judge Purwanto has not yet determined his stance regarding Nadiem’s request. However, he did confirm Nadiem’s health condition. “Can you attend the trial today?” asked Judge Purwanto. “Ready, Your Honour,” Nadiem replied. The judge asked Nadiem to inform if his health condition encounters any obstacles during the trial.
