Chromebook Case: Ibrahim Arief Shocked at Being Demanded Higher Sentence Than Officials Who Received Corruption Money
Jakarta - Former Technology Consultant in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology environment, Ibrahim Arief, admitted to being shocked at being demanded 15 years in prison, which is higher than the ministry officials accused of receiving corruption proceeds. “It is indeed shocking, especially the demand given to me of 15 years. This is even higher than the directors and officials who admitted to the flow of funds,” said Ibrahim when giving testimony after the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Thursday (16/4/2026). In this case, Mulyatsyah is accused of receiving SGD 120,000 and USD 150,000. Some of this money was distributed to several other ministry officials. When met, Ibam, Ibrahim’s familiar nickname, admitted to being tired of following the ongoing legal process. All his personal data up to tax payments were exposed in front of the public. “So here, I am actually quite tired. Because everything is being dug up, my tax return is being dug up, my salary is being dug up, even though it turned out to have been revealed that it decreased,” said Ibam. But now he feels his faults are being sought out. “I am not chasing this state salary, but my faults are still being sought here. From me being simple, I am clean. I have never been corrupt,” he said again. Ibam stated that the additional penalty in the form of replacement money of Rp 16.9 billion is not related to the procurement at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Gojek, or former Minister of Education Nadiem Makarim. “Everything has no connection to this case, all from Bukalapak from my (previous) job,” added Ibam. He is also demanded to pay replacement money of Rp 16.9 billion or substitute with 7.5 years in prison.
