The noted film actress Christine Hakim, often nicknamed
Indonesia's Meryl Streep or Jodie Foster, who has not made a film
for many years, is finally to act in a sinetron (TV serial).
National movie mogul Raam Punjabi patiently coaxed Christine for
three months into accepting a role in a sinetron he is to
produce.

Christine Hakim's versatile acting will certainly bring new
life to the sinetron business. As a fan of hers I certainly
expect she will give her all, as she did when in her movie roles.

For the past few years the national film industry has shown a
strong decline in acceptable storylines and overall quality. With
no good scripts available, Christine Hakim has been reluctant to
accept any roles. The only way open to her now is to temporarily
retire from feature films. If she has accepted to appear in a
sinetron she must have given due consideration to the matter.
