Bryan Givan, Head of Campus at Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM) Jatiwaringin, emphasised the importance of balancing passion with career prospects. “Choosing a major cannot be based solely on passion. There must be alignment with industrial needs so that graduates possess high competitiveness,” he stated on Monday (18/05/202lar).
He explained that the development of the digital industry offers vast opportunities for talent possessing competencies in technology and digital-based business. Fields such as information systems, digital business, and technology-based management are experiencing the most rapid growth. Concurrently, Indonesia’s digital economy continues to show a positive trend. By 2026, this sector is projected to become the main engine of national economic growth, particularly within the e-commerce, fintech, and technology startup industries.
This condition is driving high demand for labour with digital skills, ranging from data analysis to system development and modern business management. However, the challenge lies not only in job opportunities but also in human resource readiness. Many companies still find a gap between industrial requirements and the competencies of university graduates.
