Chinese warship MV Chen Jing Run docks at Bitung Port

Manado (ANTARA) - The Head of Public Relations for the Indonesian Navy’s Main Naval Base VIII, Lieutenant Colonel (Marine) Andreas Suko Riyanto, said that the Commander of Main Naval Base VIII, Rear Admiral TNI Dery Triesananto Suhendi, was represented by the Base Defence Commander, Navy Colonel Dedi Wardana, in receiving the port call of the Chinese warship MV Chen Jing Run (Hai Yang 26) at Bitung Container Port. The port call was part of the welcoming ceremony for the arrival of the Chinese warship MV Chen Jing Run (Hai Yang 26) in the Bitung area, Andreas said in Manado on Tuesday. The Chinese warship MV Chen Jing Run (Hai Yang 26) had just completed a voyage from Africa. The warship docked at Bitung Container Port for replenishment, including fresh water, wet provisions, fuel, vessel condition checks, and recreation for its crew. The Chinese warship, carrying 140 military personnel, is scheduled to remain in Bitung until Saturday, 29 August 2026, before continuing its voyage to its home base in China. Andreas said the series of activities began with a welcoming ceremony, followed by the presentation of Bentenan cloth as a symbol of hospitality and respect for guests visiting North Sulawesi. The event was then enlivened by a Cakalele dance performance, one of the region’s traditional dances. The welcoming series concluded with a group photo between Main Naval Base VIII personnel and the delegation from the Chinese warship MV Chen Jing Run (Hai Yang 26) as a moment to strengthen the existing relationship and cooperation. Also present at the port call were the Head of Naval Facilities Service for Main Naval Base VIII, Acting Head of the Naval Hospital Dr Wahyu Slamet, and the Head of the Naval Maintenance and Repair Facility for Main Naval Base VIII.
