Beijing (ANTARA News) - Chinese Vice President Xi Jingping said trade with Indonesia had continued to rise reaching US$26.7 billion in the January-August period of 2010.

"It has increased by 59 percent compared with the same period last year," he said here on Wednesday when receiving Indonesian Vice President Boediono.

He said the increasing trade between the two countries was an important momentum in the two countries` relations.

He said the visit of Vice President Boediono was a strong signal about Indonesia`s attention to the bilateral relations between the two countries.

"This year the two countries` relations enter their 60th year y and so far the two countries` bilateral relations have shown rapid progress," he said.

He said the two countries had shown positive relationship in various fields, particularly in trade.

Vice President Boediono earlier said Indonesia`s exports to China continued to rise since the implementation of China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) as of 2010.

"So, in macro-terms there will indeed be further increase in the future despite several problems in some sectors in Indonesia as well as in China," he said.

However, he said it does not mean that the CAFTA in particular between China and Indonesia has to stop because of them.(*)
