Chinese Tourist Dies While Snorkelling at Long Pink Beach, Komodo National Park

A female tourist who drowned while snorkelling at Long Pink Beach, Komodo National Park, Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) this morning has been identified as a Chinese national. The victim was named Zou Huarong. Zou was evacuated to Siloam Hospital Labuan Bajo, but her life could not be saved.

“The victim has passed away,” said Head of the Labuan Bajo Health Quarantine Office Bernadinus Darma on Tuesday (25/8/2026).

The victim was evacuated to Marina Labuan Bajo Harbour using a Sea Rider speedboat belonging to PT Palma Hijau Cemerlang (PHC) from the North Padar Island post in Komodo National Park. From the harbour, the victim was taken by ambulance to Siloam Hospital.

The victim was a passenger on the phinisi boat My Moon. She was initially swimming near the beach. Moments later, shouts were heard from other guests that someone had drowned.

A lifeboat from another vessel immediately approached, along with several people who were paddle boarding. Several guests from another boat who happened to be medical personnel then provided cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

The victim was then brought ashore to continue medical assistance before being evacuated to Labuan Bajo.
