Chinese President Sends Lunar New Year Card to Friends in the United States
Beijing (ANTARA) - Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday replied to a letter from a number of friends in the state of Iowa, United States, and sent Lunar New Year greeting cards to convey his festive salutations.
In his message, Xi stated that regardless of how the situation develops, the desire of the Chinese and American peoples to engage in exchanges and cooperation will not change.
Recalling his visit to Iowa 41 years ago, Xi said he was warmly welcomed at the time, and those fond memories remain fresh in his mind to this day.
Xi said the hope of China-US relations lies with the people, its foundation rests in the community, its future depends on the younger generation, and its vitality stems from exchanges at the subnational level. He added that the bonds of mutual understanding and closeness between the younger generations of both countries will not change.
Xi also expressed his hope that his friends would remain committed to advancing friendship between the peoples of both nations, encouraging more young Americans to become inheritors of China-US friendship and promoters of peace and harmony, thereby making greater contributions to the development of China-US relations.
Previously, Luca Berrone had written a letter to Xi on behalf of friends in Iowa, extending Lunar New Year greetings to Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan. In his letter, Berrone said that friends in Iowa cherish and will continue to develop their friendship with the Chinese people.
Berrone, together with Sarah Lande, Gary Dvorchak, Rick Kimberley, former US Ambassador to China Terry Branstad, World Food Prize Foundation President Emeritus Kenneth Quinn, as well as teachers and students from Iowa participating in the “50,000 in 5 Years” Initiative, also sent Lunar New Year greeting cards to Xi and his wife, expressing their willingness to advance friendly exchanges between both countries and contribute to the development of bilateral relations.
