Chinese Premier Li Qiang Meets US CEOs
Beijing - Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with leaders of US companies accompanying US President Donald Trump’s visit.
“The stable and continuously developing Chinese economy will provide more opportunities for companies from various countries, including US companies,” said Premier Li at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Thursday, as reported on the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.
Attendees at the meeting included Tim Cook (CEO of Apple), Dina Powell McCormick (President and Vice Chair of Meta), Jensen Huang (CEO of Nvidia), Brian Sikes (CEO of Cargill), Elon Musk (CEO of Tesla), Kelly Ortberg (CEO of Boeing), Jane Fraser (CEO of Citigroup), David Solomon (CEO of Goldman Sachs), Larry Culp (CEO of GE Aerospace), and Cristiano Amon (CEO of Qualcomm).
Also present were Ryan McInerney (CEO of Visa), Sanjay Mehrotra (CEO of Micron Technology), Michael Miebach (CEO of Mastercard), Larry Fink (CEO and co-founder of BlackRock), Stephen Schwarzman (CEO and co-founder of Blackstone), Jim Anderson (CEO of Coherent), Jacob Thaysen (CEO of Illumina), and the leadership of the New York Stock Exchange.
Amid rising instability and uncertainty in the current international situation, Premier Li stated that maintaining frank and smooth dialogue and communication between China and the US is not only important for both countries but will also inject certainty and positive energy into world peace and development.
“China is willing to work with the US to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, strive for more positive outcomes, support each other’s success, jointly promote prosperity, and provide more tangible benefits to the people of both countries and the global community,” added Premier Li.
Premier Li emphasised that in a world enveloped by change and chaos, stability is increasingly precious and must be maintained by all parties.
“The stable and predictable China-US economic and trade relations are in the interests of both countries and the world. China-US economic and trade cooperation is large-scale, with extensive market and industrial interconnections,” he stated.
Strengthening cooperation between the two sides can not only promote mutual benefits and win-win results but also benefit global economic growth.
“As the world’s two largest economic powers, China and the US should move closer together, lead in promoting openness and cooperation, properly handle and manage differences, maintain bilateral economic and trade relations, and serve as a stabilising and constructive force for the world,” added Premier Li.
China, according to Premier Li, is implementing the 15th Five-Year Plan, with the scale, growth potential, and market stability of China clearly evident.
“New demands are emerging rapidly, new drivers of growth are continuously developing, and the economy is steadily moving towards improvement. China welcomes more foreign companies to come to China, develop the market, and share opportunities,” revealed Premier Li.
A stable and open policy environment is an unchanging long-term commitment from the Chinese government, according to Premier Li.
Premier Li also hopes that more US companies will continue to enhance their performance in the Chinese market, further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation between China and the US, and continue to serve as a bridge for communication and dialogue between the two countries.
Meanwhile, the US CEOs stated that US-China relations are very important. They hope that both countries will strengthen dialogue and communication, expand common interests, and achieve shared prosperity.
The US business community is also optimistic about China’s development prospects, positively evaluating China’s continuous efforts to promote high-level openness and build a first-class business environment, and is willing to expand cooperation with China and make greater efforts to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries.
