State-owned aviation and tourism holding company InJourney seized the 2026 Lunar New Year long weekend as an opportunity to deliver premium services to holidaymakers through its network of airports, hotels, and tourist destinations.

A range of Chinese New Year (CNY) themed programmes were introduced to enrich the travel experience whilst creating a warm and memorable festive atmosphere.

“We are committed to delivering a comfortable and memorable travel experience for every tourist, including during national holiday moments such as the Lunar New Year celebrations. The increase in flight traffic and tourist visits across InJourney’s various assets can be managed optimally through close collaboration among all stakeholders within the aviation and tourism ecosystem, so that every programme we present truly enriches and adds meaning to every traveller’s journey,” explained InJourney President Director Maya Watono in a written statement on Wednesday (18 February 2026).

As part of the 2026 Lunar New Year celebrations, several hotel units under InJourney’s umbrella presented special flagship programmes. The Meru Sanur introduced The Lunar Season, a specially curated Lunar New Year brunch experience blending tradition with a modern touch. Each dish was designed as a symbol of hope, prosperity, and togetherness, complemented by complimentary Yu Sheng and a lion dance performance.

Meanwhile, Bali Beach Hotel presented Warisan Pecinan (Chinatown Heritage), a tribute to Chinese-Indonesian cuisine rich in history, family warmth, and communal values.

In the tourist destination sector, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) became a favourite family choice during the Lunar New Year long weekend, offering educational and enjoyable child-friendly attractions. Beyond showcasing the cultural wealth of the archipelago, TMII also featured various educational rides. During the holiday period, TMII was packed with visitors enjoying lion dance performances as the main attraction, complemented by wushu dance shows and the Bian Lian face-changing art that enriched the oriental festive atmosphere.

Jakarta’s iconic destination Sarinah also presented a special Lunar New Year programme as a cultural expression with an atmosphere laden with symbolism. Various thematic installations were presented as symbols of the Chinese-Nusantara cultural encounter. As a cultural experience centre, Sarinah created a celebration space as part of an ongoing cultural journey, including a series of arts and culture programmes entitled Gema Prespera Nusantara, showcasing diverse expressions of movement and sound.

The temple park areas managed by InJourney Destination Management presented a harmonious blend of the grandeur of historical heritage and the richness of Chinese tradition. The spirit of the Year of the Fire Horse was celebrated through special events at Borobudur Temple and Prambanan Temple. Spectacular lion and dragon dance performances enlivened the celebrations on Tuesday (17 February).

The lion dance at Prambanan was performed by Paguyuban Barongsai Naga Winongo, whilst at Borobudur it was performed by Paguyuban Panbers Jogja. These performances were presented not merely as entertainment but also as a form of respect and introduction to traditions that thrive within Indonesian society. The thundering drums and cymbals accompanying the performances are believed to symbolise the driving away of bad fortune and a spirited new beginning.

During the period of 14–17 February 2026, tourist visits to the Prambanan Temple complex totalled 26,904 visitors, Ratu Boko recorded 1,919 visitors, and Borobudur Temple received 15,644 visitors.

In the aviation sector, Lunar New Year celebrations were also felt across the 37 airports managed by InJourney Airports through thematic decorations and lion dance performances. This activation formed part of the company’s commitment to enhancing customer experience and delivering heartfelt service during every major national occasion.

During the period of 14–16 February 2026, cumulative passenger movements across InJourney Airports’ 37 airports reached approximately 1.85 million passengers, an increase of around 10 per cent compared with the normal February average of 1.67 million passengers. In line with this, aircraft movements increased by approximately 7 per cent to around 13,000 flights.
