Chinese New Year 2026 Holiday: Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road Traffic Surges Sharply

Karawang (ANTARA) - PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) has recorded a significant increase in traffic flow along the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road during the extended Chinese New Year holiday period.

Throughout Monday from midday to evening, traffic along the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road was considerably busy, dominated by private vehicles.

VP Corporate Secretary & Legal at PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol, Ria Marlinda Paallo, said in Karawang Regency, West Java, on Monday that the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road had been quite busy since the start of the extended Chinese New Year holiday.

PT JTT recorded an increase in public mobility during the 2026 Chinese New Year holiday period. Up to the period from H-4 to H-2 (13–15 February 2026), a total of 119,532 vehicles were recorded travelling towards the Eastern Trans Java region through the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate.

The number of vehicles passing through represented an increase of 31.37 per cent compared to normal traffic volumes of 90,987 vehicles.

Meanwhile, vehicles travelling from the Eastern Trans Java region towards Jakarta through the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate totalled 95,039, representing an increase of 2.95 per cent compared to normal traffic of 92,312 vehicles.

As the extended holiday period draws to a close, JTT has projected that return traffic volumes will increase on Tuesday (17 February).

The Chinese New Year return traffic flow is estimated to reach 39,379 vehicles travelling from the eastern Trans Java direction through the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate, representing a rise of 53.75 per cent from normal traffic of 25,612 vehicles.

JTT has implemented various anticipatory measures to manage the expected surge, including strengthening operational services, optimising toll booths, ensuring field personnel readiness, and conducting intensive coordination with the police and relevant agencies to maintain smooth traffic flow.
