MAKASSAR, South Sulawesi: The city immigration office has
detained two more Chinese nationals for alleged visa violations,
bringing the number of foreigners apprehended over the past month
to six.
Head of the office Dody M. Wibowo said Ajin Wu, 37, and Li
Yushu, 44, were detained on Saturday after they were found
selling goods door-to-door. The Chinese, Dody said, held a visa
granted to whole sale businesspeople.
Immigration officials seized from the two Chinese Rp 6,8
million in cash and other banknotes in United States, Chinese and
Macau currencies, 225 binoculars, 25 wristwatches and jewelry.
The two men entered the country on July 13 and have been in
Makassar since the past week. Dody said they had operated their
business in Jakarta, Bontang and Surabaya.
Earlier this month the office arrested a Chinese, Italian,
South Korean and Indian also for visa offenses. -- JP
