Chinese National Who Fell on Mount Rinjani Successfully Evacuated

A joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team has successfully evacuated Li Xianhua (47), a foreign national from China, in safe condition after an accident on the climbing route of Mount Rinjani, West Nusa Tenggara. The victim was reported to have fallen and briefly lost consciousness due to a hard blow to the head.

The incident occurred on the Senaru–Batu Ceper climbing route on Monday (14/09) at around 08.00 WITA (Central Indonesian Time). The Mataram SAR Office received the emergency report two hours later, at 10.00 WITA, from a representative of the Emergency Medical Health Center (EMHC), Mustiadi.

In follow-up to the report, the Mataram SAR Office immediately deployed a rescue team from the Sembalun SAR Alert Unit. To expedite the handling process, additional personnel from the Mataram SAR Office and the Bangsal SAR Alert Unit were also dispatched to the scene.

Bustanil, Head of the Operations and Alert Section, representing the Head of the Mataram SAR Office, stated that his side deployed full strength to ensure the victim’s safety. “The main focus was to reach the victim as quickly as possible to provide initial medical aid, given that the victim was reported to have suffered a head injury and lost consciousness,” said Bustanil.

The rescue team was equipped with adequate SAR primary equipment (Alut), including mountaineering and medical evacuation gear. The evacuation was carried out in relay by the joint team from the treatment point to the TNGR Senaru Post.

After traversing mountainous terrain, the team finally arrived at the TNGR Senaru Post on Tuesday (15/09) at 04.47 WITA. The victim was immediately rushed to Nusa Medica Clinic Sembalun for further medical treatment. With the success of this evacuation, the SAR operation was officially declared closed.
