Chinese National in Palu Beaten by Mob After Hitting Parked Motorcycle, Belongings Robbed
A Chinese national named Guo Zhenrong became the victim of a mob assault after the car he was driving struck a parked motorcycle in Palu, Central Sulawesi. Guo's belongings were also robbed by the crowd.
"The incident began when the victim was driving a black Mitsubishi Pajero Sport with registration plate B 1526 JJB along Jalan Raja Lembah. Whilst passing through, the victim hit a parked Yamaha Mio motorcycle on the roadside," said Tawaeli Police Sector Chief, Inspector Zulham Abdillah, on Tuesday (17/2/2026).
The incident occurred in Kayumalue Ngapa subdistrict, North Palu district, on Monday (16/2) at approximately 8.35pm local time. Residents who witnessed the collision pursued the victim's vehicle, pelting it with stones.
The victim eventually stopped his vehicle in front of a minimarket in Kayumalue Ngapa. At that location, the victim was allegedly assaulted and robbed by a group of individuals whose identities remain unknown.
"As a result of the incident, the victim sustained injuries to his mouth and lost several teeth. Additionally, the victim lost a mobile phone, a bag containing important documents, and cash," the police chief explained.
Police subsequently evacuated the victim to Madani Regional General Hospital for medical treatment. Officers also secured cash amounting to Rp 2,140,000 from the scene on the night of the incident.
