A Chinese foreign national has been controlling an online gambling business using an application called DazzLive since 2023. The perpetrator married an Indonesian citizen and recruited several local residents, with the operation generating a turnover of Rp 96 billion over seven months.

Director of Cyber Crime at the West Java Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Fian Yunus, stated that investigators from Sub-Directorate III of the Cyber Crime Directorate successfully uncovered the online gambling case on 8 July 2026 at three different locations in South Jakarta, Purwakarta, and Bondowoso. A total of 12 people were named as suspects, with one placed on the wanted list after fleeing to Vietnam.

“We have arrested and named 11 people as suspects in this online gambling crime,” he said on Monday (20/7/2026).

He identified them as LY (34), Director of PT Giant View Technology which operates the DazzLive application; IFA (27), company commissioner; LH (33), top-up boss leader; Tom (36), agency leader; TAP (33), agency host; FDM (28), live host; MR (42), Country Manager; V (28), finance manager; ARP (28), VIP agent; VADP (28), auditor; and SNR (28), VIP talent manager. Investigators required approximately four months to dismantle the network.

Fian explained that the modus operandi of the DazzLive gambling application involved enticing victims to play online gambling. The perpetrators created a coin format that visitors could play with by topping up.

“The game used a betting system, and winnings were withdrawn through live hosts by giving gifts, confirming that the application was indeed an online gambling platform,” he said.

They are charged under Article 45 paragraph (3) in conjunction with Article 27 paragraph (2) of Indonesian Law Number 1 of 2024 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 11 of 2008 on Electronic Information and Transactions. Additional charges include the Personal Data Protection Law, the Anti-Money Laundering Law, and the Criminal Code.

“The maximum criminal penalty is 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to Rp 4 billion,” he stated.

Police seized hundreds of millions of rupiah in cash, luxury cars, several motorcycles, travel documents, passports, luxury watches, jewellery bracelets, and gold bars.

“Based on a rough calculation from January to August, the turnover for several applications reached Rp 96 billion,” he said.
