Chinese Investor Enters IKN with Rp 1.25 Trillion, Reasons Unexpected
Chinese investors are beginning to stake new investments in the Nusantara Capital (IKN). The IKN Authority has officially partnered with PT Star Bright International Investment, a foreign investment company from China, to build an integrated residential area in the Central Government Core Zone (KIPP) with an investment value of Rp 1.25 trillion.
The partnership was announced by the IKN Authority through its official Instagram post @otorita_ikn. The project is described as part of a grand strategy to build Nusantara as a sustainable world city and a new centre of economic growth.
“The IKN Authority has officially synergised with PT Star Bright International Investment, a foreign investment company (PMA) from China, to strengthen the residential ecosystem and economic activities in the Central Government Core Zone (KIPP),” wrote the IKN Authority, quoted on Tuesday (12/5/2026).
The Rp 1.25 trillion investment will focus on developing an international-scale integrated residential area. The project is designed to provide complete premium-standard facilities to complement comfort in the new government centre.
The area to be developed includes serviced apartments, housing with professional global-standard services; premium residential areas, high-quality living environments for the community; business areas, modern office spaces to support professional activities; and commercial facilities, such as restaurants and retail that will enliven the urban atmosphere.
The IKN Authority also revealed that the project has entered the construction phase. The area to be built will include premium residential, office spaces, and commercial areas.
PT Star Bright International Investment is an affiliate of Zhongda Jiancheng Engineering Management Group Co., Ltd. and the Indonesian Hainan Chamber of Commerce from China. It brings over 20 years of experience in the global property industry and a successful track record in prestigious projects such as the Bifeng Waterfront Project.
For the construction phases, it is planned in a measured manner to ensure the best quality: the cooperation agreement signing in March 2026, followed by the permitting process from March to August 2026, and the target start of phase 1 construction in the third quarter of 2026.
The President Director of PT Star Bright International Investment, Lu Keming, is optimistic that the project can elevate Nusantara’s image in the eyes of the world.
“We are optimistic that with the Nusantara Capital, it will become the most beautiful city in the world,” said Lu Keming.
The IKN Authority views this foreign investment as a signal that Nusantara is starting to be seen as a promising global investment destination.
“This agreement is concrete proof that Nusantara is a promising global investment destination, supported by legal certainty and transparent services,” wrote the IKN Authority.
