Chinese in government
Chinese in government
From Sinar
There are about five million Chinese among the Indonesian
population of 195 million. The Philippines has only about one
million Chinese among its 73 million. However, in that country
many Filipinos of Chinese descent hold government positions like
senators, ambassadors, ministers, or even president.
What about in Indonesia? I don't recall ever having an
ambassador, or minister, of Chinese descent during the New Order
era. Are they not capable of taking up such posts? Or is the
political climate still too unfavorable?
