Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi: China-US Relations Must Be Managed Steadily
Beijing (ANTARA) - Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has said that relations between China and the United States must be managed well and remain stable.
“(The relationship) must be managed and stable and should not resemble a roller coaster with constant ups and downs,” Wang Yi said, as quoted by China Central Television (CCTV), Friday.
He added that confrontation between China and the United States could be a disaster for both countries and the whole world; while cooperation could benefit both countries.
“Confrontation will certainly bring disaster to both countries and the whole world, while cooperation can produce many great results that will benefit both countries and the whole world,” he added.
Xi and Trump interacted for almost nine hours, the minister said, including formal talks and a dinner.
“This was an important meeting, in which both heads of state engaged in in-depth discussions and achieved beneficial results. The meeting included formal talks and a welcome dinner, as well as an exchange of views and a small-scale visit,” Wang Yi said in a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
The leadership of Xi and Trump in guiding the “ship of China-US relations” will have a broad impact on the evolution of the international situation, he said.
