Chinese deported from Bandung
BANDUNG, West Java: The immigration office here deported on
Wednesday at least 15 Chinese nationals, including six women, for
misusing their visas.
"They obtained visas for business or sociocultural visits, but
in reality they were engaged in trading activities in Bandung,"
the head of the immigration office, Jos Sudarso, said.
The Chinese nationals had been held at the Kanim immigration
office in the city since their arrests last weekend.
M.J. Barimbing, a senior immigration official, said the
Chinese citizens were caught selling merchandise, including
telescopes, door-to-door.
None of the Chinese nationals were able to speak Indonesian or
English, which raised the suspicion of the local police, he said.
