The government has designated Zhejiang Weiming, a company from China, as the winner of the tender for the Waste-to-Energy (PSEL) or Waste-to-Energy (WTE) project in Bali. President Director of Bali Turtle Island Development (BTID), Tuti Hadiputranto, stated that this designation is part of the waste-to-energy programme supported by Danantara. According to her, the tender for this project covers four cities: Bogor, Bali, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya. Specifically for Bali, the project will be undertaken by Zhejiang Weiming. “The winner for Bali has been determined, namely Zhejiang Weiming, which is indeed one of the world’s best waste incinerator processors. And it is the one that will invest in Bali in collaboration with the local government,” she said during a working visit by Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Kura Kura Bali Special Economic Zone on Monday (4/5/2026). She explained that the local government will prepare the land, while Weiming will build the incinerator facility. The construction process is targeted to be completed within 18 months after the location is determined and ready for building. The WTE facility will then process waste from the Suwung landfill into electricity that can be sold to PLN. “So after 18 months, there will be no more waste at Suwung. It will all be incinerated through the incinerator and the electricity will be directly sold to PLN,” she said. Tuti added that the regulations related to the project are already in place and currently in the implementation process. “All the regulations are already there and have been issued and are in process,” she added.
