GUANGZHOU, KOMPAS.com – Solutions for charging electric vehicles in Indonesia are set to become even more diverse. In the future, battery charging will not only involve cable charging but also battery swap technology. If there are no obstacles, electric car battery swap stations from Aulton will begin operating in the second half of this year. Steven Qu, General Manager of the International Business Division of Aulton New Energy Ltd Co, revealed that preparations are underway to introduce this service. “The first station in Jakarta will be at the end of August,” Qu said when confirmed in Guangzhou, China, on Wednesday (22/4/2026). However, he kept information about the strategic partner close. “For the ecosystem, it’s not just us, but also with partners. But for now, I can’t say,” he stated. The technology to be brought to Indonesia is the latest version. Qu explained that the battery swap stations to be introduced use seventh-generation technology. Its main advantage lies in time efficiency, where electric car users do not need to wait long as with conventional charging. This means the electric car battery replacement process takes less than two minutes, equivalent to the time it takes to refuel at a petrol station in general. In agreement with Qu, Shawn Xiang, Project Manager of the International Business Division of Aulton, said Jakarta will be the location for the initial operational pilot. “It’s planned for August. Other cities will follow, but can’t be mentioned yet,” Xiang said.
