Chinese Ambassador Reveals Shared Vision Between Xi Jinping and Prabowo
China’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Wang Lutong, has revealed that President Xi Jinping and President Prabowo Subianto share similar views, especially regarding human resource development. According to him, both leaders place the development of people’s capacity as a crucial foundation for national progress and the strengthening of bilateral relations between Indonesia and China.
“President Xi Jinping and President Prabowo Subianto both pay great attention to human resource capacity building. The two leaders agree that people’s empowerment, mutual learning, and people-to-people relations can become a new source of energy for the strategic partnership between the two countries,” Wang said at the Indonesia-China Technical Cooperation Program Alumni Gathering at the Krida Bhakti Building, Ministry of State Secretariat, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (11/6/2026).
Wang explained that capacity-building cooperation between Indonesia and China has been ongoing for more than two decades. Since its inception in 2000, the training programme organised by the Chinese Government has been attended by more than 12,000 Indonesian civil servants in various fields, ranging from public administration, industrial development, and technological innovation to disaster management and public welfare.
According to him, the programme not only benefits Indonesia but also serves as a learning tool for China. The relationship between the two countries, Wang said, is built on the basis of mutual learning and sharing development experiences. “This relationship is not a one-way street. We also learn a lot from Indonesia. This programme is a mutual learning process for both countries,” he stated.
Amidst increasing global geopolitical and economic challenges, Wang assessed that Indonesia and China have an important role as strategic partners within the Global South group of nations. Therefore, the two countries need to continue strengthening cooperation in maintaining stability and promoting inclusive development. He affirmed that China will continue to work with Indonesia to uphold international justice, strengthen multilateralism, and promote peace and prosperity at both the regional and global levels.
Wang also highlighted the alignment of the two countries’ long-term development visions. On one hand, China is pursuing its long-term national development agenda, while Indonesia has its Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision, which focuses on economic transformation and improving the quality of human resources. He noted that many new cooperation opportunities remain wide open to be developed for the benefit of the people of both nations. In this context, alumni of the Chinese training programme are said to have a strategic role as a bridge that strengthens bilateral relations.
“Alumni are important assets in this bilateral relationship. I hope you all continue to achieve success in your careers and in serving the community. With your support, I am confident that Indonesia-China relations will continue to grow,” he said. Wang also expressed his hope that Indonesia will continue to grow into an increasingly advanced and prosperous nation. He further affirmed China’s commitment to continuously strengthen cooperation with Indonesia in various fields in the future. “We want to see Indonesia become an increasingly strong and prosperous country. I hope to continue working with all of you to realise this goal,” Wang concluded.
